Who we look after
Five sectors, each with its own calendar and its own rules. Pick yours to jump straight to it, or see how a planned maintenance contract works.
Schools and education
Independent and state schools, colleges and nurseries.
Most school work has to happen in six weeks of summer or not at all. We plan the year backwards from that: the big jobs in the holidays, the compliance testing on a termly cycle, and someone on site within 24 hours when something goes during term.
Every engineer is DBS checked and briefed on safeguarding before they set foot on site. Certification comes to you filed and dated, so when the inspection comes round the paperwork’s already done.
Cold water tank cleaning and legionella sampling go on the same holiday schedule as everything else. More on water tank cleaning.
Most schools sit on one of our planned maintenance contracts.
Hotels, bars and hospitality
Hotels, pubs, bars and restaurants.
A hotel can’t close and a kitchen can’t wait. When the commercial gas goes down or the heating drops out, the cost isn’t the repair, it’s the rooms and covers you lose that night.
We service commercial kitchen gas, keep heating and hot water running, and take callouts out of hours, nights and weekends included. Planned work gets scheduled around your quiet weeks rather than ours.
We also clean and chlorinate cold water tanks and take legionella samples, booked into the same quiet weeks. More on water tank cleaning.
Out of hours covers heating, boilers, plumbing and gas. Electrical work is next working day. More on our commercial gas and heating.
Property and lettings
Landlords, letting agents, student accommodation and HMOs.
If you’re running a portfolio, the problem isn’t any one job. It’s tracking which property needs what certificate and when.
Our landlord safety check puts the lot in one visit: gas safety certificate, EICR and a maintenance check on the property, for £250 + VAT. That covers the inspections and the certificates. If the check turns something up, we’ll quote it separately, and no work gets done without you saying so.
Beyond that we run the whole portfolio on a compliance calendar, so renewals reach you before they lapse. Void turnarounds and making good too. One contact for gas, electrical and making good.
Children’s homes
Residential children’s homes and supported accommodation.
A children’s home has to pass inspection and still feel like somewhere a child lives. Those two things pull against each other, and most contractors only understand one of them.
We refurbish homes to the standard Ofsted expects: fire doors, emergency lighting, fire call points, window locks and the fabric work that goes with them. We deal with ligature risk properly, and we’ve turned outbuildings into staff offices so the house itself stays a house.
Water hygiene and legionella compliance too, with water tank cleaning certificated and filed with the rest.
Then we stay on for the maintenance, because the standard has to hold all year. See our refurbishment work and maintenance contracts.
Churches and heritage buildings
Churches, listed and period buildings.
Old buildings don’t behave like new ones. Heating a church means working with stone, height and no insulation, and rewiring a listed building means doing it without damaging fabric you can’t replace.
We’ve worked on both: cast iron pipework, ageing boiler plant, and electrical work that has to satisfy a faculty as well as an inspector. Church halls, village halls, listed houses and period commercial buildings sit here too.
If it’s old and awkward, it’s the sort of thing we’re used to. More on heating for big, old buildings.
